Session #3

Morning Gathering

  • The party shares breakfast with Gianni, their arena official and contact.
  • Gianni informs them that today is a free day. The Arena has been damaged by the previous Hydra event and is currently closed for repairs.
  • With no obligations, the party is free to explore the city of Akros beyond the commerce district they currently reside in.
    • Gianni reminds them that they can visit:
      • The Liturgical and Legal District (home to courts, temples, and libraries)
      • The Entertainment District (theaters, taverns, public squares)
      • The Residential District (where commoners and citizens live)

  • The party decides to spend their day visiting the Legal District, curious about Akros’s unique laws and traditions.

Events in the District:

  • Celina D. Coh and Plinkö encounter Selene near a courthouse plaza.

    • In a tense but intimate exchange, Selene reveals a dangerous secret to Celina:
      • She knows who killed Celina’s father.
      • She confirms it was a Satessiannot the one Celina had originally suspected (Daedulus).
      • She gifts Celina a friendship bracelet, imbued with minor magic, which she can use to contact Selene when needed.
  • Meanwhile, Daedulus explores the city’s grand Exhibit Hall, a marble gallery showcasing Akros’s complex history.

    • There, he encounters the Heretic Minotaurs — an exile group dressed in ceremonial robes.
      • They are observing a controversial monument challenging the racism minotaurs endure and calling for better relations with Skophos.
      • When their robes slip, their identity is revealed; guards and onlookers grow tense.
      • Daedulus defends the Minotaurs verbally, buying them enough time to slip away without violence.

Afternoon: The Comedy Show

  • Seeking a lighter mood, the party heads into the Entertainment District for a comedy show.
    • They endure several mediocre acts, followed by an open mic night.
    • During the open stage, Selene takes the floor in disguise.
      • Through a veiled performance, she beckons Celina and, through coded language, warns her:
        • Celina’s father’s killer is nearby — in Akros right now.

Nightfall: The Diner and the Attack

  • After the show, the party visits a late-night diner, tired but thoughtful.

    • At a nearby booth, they spot the Heretic Minotaurs again, including:
      • Markos (a hardened and weary leader)
      • Paolo (more relaxed and youthful)
      • Menios (the white-furred Minotaur, performing healing magic)
      • Neros (loudly encouraging the group to stay positive)
    • The atmosphere is tense but not hostile. The Minotaurs eventually finish their meal and leave into the night.
  • Suddenly, screams erupt outside.

    • Rushing out, the party sees Markos strangling a young, baby-faced Satessian man, who wears a hunter’s garb.
    • Before anyone can intervene, the Heretic Minotaurs themselves — surprisingly — arrest Markos.
      • Markos spits accusations at them, calling them traitors.
      • The Heretic Minotaurs explain to the party:
        • They are exiles from Skophos.
        • They brought Meletian hieromancy (order magic) to Akros in defiance of Mogis’s doctrine.
        • They hope to reform Mogis, unite the twin gods (Mogis and Iroas), and promote peace — a radical, dangerous belief among traditional Minotaurs.

The Confession and Horror

  • Celina, feeling a burning need for answers, uses her magic to read the Satessian man’s mind.

    • He is shocked at her intrusion.
    • In a panic, he confesses:
      • He was hired to kill her father.
      • He does not say who hired him — as he tries, something happens.
    • Horrifically, arms burst out of his body from the inside, killing him instantly — some kind of dark magic activated to silence him.
  • Guards rush to secure the corpse.

    • Before they can, Celina quickly searches the body, recovering:
      • A comb and pieces of jewelrypersonal items belonging to her father.
    • In a burst of anger and grief, Celina burns part of the corpse with a flare of magic.
      • The guards are startled and alarmed.
      • Daedulus chastises Celina, warning her about losing control.
  • Regaining herself, Celina reveals everything she learned to the rest of the party.

    • Even Daedulus is caught off guard by the scale of the revelation.

Notable New Threads:

  • Who hired the Satessian killer?
  • What magic triggered his death?
  • How will the Heretic Minotaurs’ dream of peace affect Akros — and Mogis?
  • What new dangers might Celina’s magic and anger summon?
